In the past, Mabuhay, the inflight magazine of Philippines Airlines, was being published by foreign publishers. Mr. Max Soliven, a famous journalist, while having lunch with Dante Santos, the former President of PAL, made comment that why PAL is allowing foreigners to publish a Filipino magazine while we know our country better. Mr. Santos, realizing the truth in Mr. Soliven’s comment, requested him to submit a proposal to publish the magazine. That’s how Eastgate came about.
In January 26, 1988, Eastgate Publishing Corporation was incorporated under SEC Reg. No. 147881 under the leadership of Mr. Max V. Soliven with Mabuhay magazine as its first publication. After a year, it was able to get the publication of Fiesta Boutique, the inflight duty free catalogue of PAL. It was then followed by other publications like Shoppers’ Paradise of Duty Free Philippines, Mac magazine (for Mac apple enthusiasts), Accountants Journal of PICPA, and People Asia, just to name a few.
The company’s main source of income is from publishing and advertising. Eventually the company started to offer other services like graphic design, photography, media representation, and slides rental services.

Responsibilities:
- Assists in writing, editing, and research of company publications
- Involved in conceptualization, research, data-gathering, and writing of good quality project stories
- Gathers data to ensure articles and stories are supported with accurate and relevant details
Requirements:
- Male or Female
- Must possess atleast a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Liberal Arts, Mass Communications of equivalent
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Fresh graduates or entry level applicants are encouraged to apply
- Must be patient, attentive to detail, conscious of meeting deadlines, ressourceful, assertive, very curious about what’s happening with the world
- Must be willing to travel and work long hours to complete tasks
- High level of enthusiasm and good interpersonal skills
