Do you enjoy observing and writing about the local Japanese culture? Iconoculture's team of writers/researchers around the globe possess a deep understanding of the local culture, keen observational insight and the ability to translate cultural observations into opportunities for business. Individuals must live in Japan and demonstrate authentic expertise and experience with local society, culture, business, media, and politics. The ability to fluently speak and read Japanese as well as English is a must. Candidates should be in a position to consistently access the Internet and communicate with U.S. based strategists via email on a regular basis. Ideal candidate should also be comfortable with cameras, comprehensive reading of local and regional media and blogging.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Research and explore consumer behavior through observation, secondary resources, and interactions with local consumers
•Communicate insights and information in a clear, detailed and enlightening fashion on a regular basis
•Identify emerging consumer trends across different demographics, industries, and lifestyle categories
•Respond to Iconoculture inquiries in a timely, proactive, and in-depth manner
•Support cultural insights with rich media, including but not limited to digital photographs, video, and/or audio

REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelors degree in journalism, international marketing, cultural studies, anthropology, or other social science preferred; current non-conflicting employment in any of the above areas a plus
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Experience, expertise, and fluency in local culture
•A passion for consumer culture, and keen ability to read patterns and identify trends
•Deep and extensive set of international contacts and relationships, both informal and professional
•Self-starter; highly responsible regarding deadlines and commitments
•Read/speak fluently in local language(s) as well as English
•Proven ability to work productively in a virtual work environment without set hours or fixed objectives, and to create necessary personal systems to maximize productivity
