In 2007, Busan International Film Festival launched the Asian Cinema Fund (ACF), with a view to support young and talented filmmakers across the region who wish to significantly develop their potential.
The ACF divides its funding programs into three categories: the Script Development Fund, which supports Asian filmmakers' ideas at concept-stage to enhance the possibility of the projects eventually being produced; the Post-production Fund, providing in-kind support to complete the post-production process at state-of-the-art facilities in Korea; the Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund, which is committed to supporting the production of Asian documentaries.

GUIDELINES
- Submission Deadline: May 10, 2012
- Eligible Project should be a fiction feature of which the final script has not yet been completed, should be an original script. Adaptation work of any source material will not be accepted. Previously disqualified projects cannot be resubmitted.
- Eligible Applicant must be an Asian National, or be either of Asian heritage or a non-Asian residing in an Asian country and must be a writer-director, or a team consisting of writer and director. (You can apply even though a producer is not yet attached to the project.) Also, you must have directed at least one short or feature-length film. In both cases, however, your project should contain Asian elements such as Asian stories, characters, themes and setting, etc.
- The same applicant can apply in different funding programs of ACF. For each program, only one application per applicant can be submitted.
- Application Categories for Script Development Fund are as follows.
- Asian Project: eligible project prepared by Asian Nationality, or Asian heritage or a non-Asian residing in an Asian country EXCEPT Korea.
- Korean Project: eligible project prepared by Korean
- Asian Film Academy (AFA) Project: eligible project prepared by Asian Film Academy (AFA) Fellow
- Overseas Korean Project in Asia: eligible project prepared by Overseas Korean based in Asian country
- You can apply even though you have received funding and support from other sources. However, please specify those sources and the relevant details.
- All application materials should be made in English.
- An additional note providing comments or information which the applicant deems useful for a better understanding of the project can be attached.
- All application materials, with the exception of DVD's, must be submitted via ACF on-line submission website. In case you cannot access to the submission website, applications may be sent by e-mail with the subject of [ACF SCRIPT DVPT_PROJECT NAME]. In the event that proposals are submitted in hard-copy format, please do not staple or bind them.
- Please label all DVD's with the project title, director's name, and total running time. (If there are no English subtitles, include a script in English) Please note also that the submitted materials will not be returned.
- Every notification will be made exclusively through e-mails. Therefore, please make sure that your e-mail address provided in the application form is correct. Applicants will be informed of the receipt of their application within seven working days.
- Applications that do not satisfy the listed criteria for eligibility or meet stated requirements may be excluded from the screening process without any prior notice.
