Rules of Competition

1. Academic writing in the context of this competition means informative essay which provides either a summary of information on the chosen topic, provides a unique perspective or both. We will not consider primary research studies, case studies and thesis submissions for this competition.

2. There are five selected themes on which to write your essay – 1. Low Back Pain 2. Stroke 3. Sports Injuries 4. Cardiovascular conditioning 5. Work related musculoskeletal disorders. Your essay can be general discussion of one of these topics or you can choose any subtopic within these broad themes.

3. Open to Indian resident nationals only.

4. All articles must be in English, saved in word format, Times New Roman, Font Size 12, double spaced. The file with the main article should not have any of the author’s details to ensure complete blinding of the manuscript.

5. Please attach a separate file with your personal details, including name, place of work, designation and a 50 words biography. Both files need to be emailed together to competition@physioguru.com

6. Articles have to be at least 500 words long and mustn't exceed a limit of 1500 words. The maximum number of pictures and graphics is one picture per 500 words of text.

7. Articles need to be properly referenced, citing relevant sources in the text, with a reference list in the end. The authors need to use Vancouver style of referencing. Any articles not in Vancouver style of referencing will be excluded from the competition.

8. One author can submit up to 3 entries.

9. The articles must be free from plagiarism in any form. All of the following are considered plagiarism:

· turning in someone else's work as your own

· copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit

· failing to put a quotation in quotation marks

· giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation

· changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit

· copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not.

10. Criteria for marking – Literature search, depth of discussion, Writing style and presentation, Adherence to guidelines.

11. All submitted articles will become the property of Physioguru and Physiotimes and we will have the right to use the articles in full or part in either media, though the original authors will always be cited.

12. The articles will be judged by a panel of three independent (Not related to the editorial teams of either PhysioGuru or Physiotimes) judges. The names of the judges will be made public after the closing date.

Any article that does not meet all of the above criteria will be disqualified and cannot be entered in the competition.
