The Job:
Keeping a finger on the pulse of breaking news, selecting news, editing them into crisp, user-friendly copy meant for a global online audience. Update various of the website on a routine basis. Write on-the-fly news stories from television or any other source as news breaks and update website ahead of all. Edit pictures, crop them to size and give crisp captions. This job involves high mindshare and concentration and round-the-clock shift duties.
The Skills:
An absolute news junkie with turbo-charged editing skills and an astute understanding of what all is going around in the world. Knowledge and understanding of the English language, a killer urge to do things faster and yet not miss out on detail. Ability to give brilliant headlines will be a differentiating factor. Should be a devoted team worker. Prior experience in a newspaper is preferred, though talented freshers with a diploma in journalism will be considered. Experience in the online space will be an advantage.
