A Tremor
Shook
through the spine
of our world,
slic-
ing the streets
at their dotted lines
and gluing the
island’s edges
down
with the weight
of wet bodies
washing
ashore.
Moved
the damned
island itself
so far
east
that the gaijin
reporters
began reporting
that the far-east island,
now even farther-
east,
is closer than ever
to America.
