Deadline: 8 May 2011
2011 marks the 100th anniversary of the British decision to shift India’s capital from Calcutta to Delhi. At the start of this year, The Caravan devoted its January issue to “India’s Capital at 100”, featuring an essay on the history of Delhi’s development–beginning with the British construction of New Delhi–and a long conversation between two distinguished Dilliwallahs, William Dalrymple and Mahmood Farooqui, on the incredible transformations of India’s capital over the past century, including the past two decades.

To commemorate this centennial year, The Caravan will host a panel discussion featuring several writers and thinkers who have contributed to our understanding of the capital and the seismic changes in its character and appearance.
