Job Opening: Publication Writer for GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (India)
Position: Publication Writer

Work Location: Bangalore

Responsibilities

* The Publication Writer is responsible for writing of publications (“publications” refers to: articles, reviews, abstracts, presentations, posters, book chapters….) within a project based on data from clinical study reports or statistical reports, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of experts. The Publication Writer works independently and has the ability to plan and prioritize without supervision.

Key Responsibilities: primary deliverables of role; its scope; impact on strategy, policy, business or people relationships

* Involvement in Phase I-IV of clinical research development and in all projects ongoing at GSK Biologicals by drafting publications for clinical and epidemiology studies.
* Drafts materials for scientific meetings (e.g., abstracts, slides, posters, presentation materials).
* Involved in writing complex documents like systematic reviews, health economics manuscripts, vaccine review publications etc.
* Ensuring high scientific integrity of data interpretation, following negotiation with internal and external partners.
* Ensures the consistency and quality level of all documents that are issued.
* Edits content, format, style, format, grammar, logic and consistency, according to journal or congress requirements.
* Ensures quality assurance for all written materials within scope (project publications: articles, abstracts, posters, presentations, book chapters) in line with ICMJE guidelines.
* Develop, implement and monitor “Good Authoring Practices” within GSK Biologicals in accordance with global guidelines (CONSORT, STROBE, etc).
* Creating and maintaining expertise in project publications.
* Contribute to standardization and improvement of GSK Biologicals processes.
* Work on 2-3 studies across different projects simultaneously.
* Involved in addressing the post-submission journal comments. He/she works closely with the publication manager and lead author to prepare the submission package including cover letter and responses to journal reviewers’ comments.

Requirements

* Education
* Post-graduate degree in life sciences or medical background or equivalent expertise.
* Knowledge
* Possesses a good understanding of basic immunology and area of assigned vaccine project.
* Demonstrates knowledge of scientific methodology in the design, conduct and description of clinical research.
* Demonstrates understanding of how to analyse and describe clinical results.
* Understands the organization of clinical study reports and scientific presentations.
* Possesses working knowledge of International Committee for Harmonisation (ICH) / Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
* Possesses good working knowledge of statistical principles used in clinical research
* Possesses necessary computer skills and general computer literacy.
* Excellent command over English language (verbal and written).
* Experience
* A minimum of 2 years experience in scientific/publication writing
