Azure is the colour to die for,
the colour of skies that hold promise
in their unborn wispy clouds.
Amber would be the liquid that swirls
in crystal, listening to luscious lips
mouth indecencies.
Ochre—the colour of sunsets
in lands that we envy and spy,
in picture postcards.
Scarlet? The colour of your blood.
Blood that throbbed with idealism,
rhythmically, in your arteries, before
you were hacked to the ground
in front of a thousand impotent limbs.
Where you once stood,
a soiled patch of earth brown.
