CALL FOR PAPERS for an edited volume of articles entitled Writing Difference: Nationalism, Literature and Identity
PERSPECTIVES OF THE BOOK
Since the nineteenth century, Nationalism has remained one of the most powerful forces in the history of ideas both for celebratory and polemical reasons, having been hailed as much as an ideology of emancipation and integration as a spectre of fragmentation and belligerence. It has given birth to some most impassioned writings in world literature both creative and theoretical.
Postcolonial/Postmodern engagement has meanwhile brought up more issues for critical negotiations, especially those thrown up later against the glocal scenario, for example, minority, culture, ethnicity, community, gender, caste, migrancy, diaspora and so on. At any rate, it has proved to be a plural and a highly contested site, requiring constant reconceptualization and renegotiation. Hence this contemplation for still another critical enterprise.
This volume of articles would attempt to explore these cultural impacts and ramifications of nationalist thought all over the world in terms of theoretical formulations and also critical responses to existing literary texts in this broad area. Ideas should be well formulated, duly substantiated and adequately referenced.

An abstract (~300 words) may be sent to jaydipsarkarnbu@yahoo.co.in or anindya_north@yahoo.co.uk on or before May 15, 2011.
Full paper, neatly typed in Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing, will be of around 3000-4000 words, and must be submitted on or before July 30, 2011. MLA 2007 style sheet preferred. A hard copy of the same should be mailed to Dr. Jaydip Sarkar, M. M. Para, Mother Lane, Ward No. 1, P.O. Dinhata, Dist. Cooch-Behar, Pin-736135, W.Bengal, India.
