Writer / Communicator (R & D)
Experience: 3 - 5 Years
Hyderabad/ Secunderabad
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
1. To produce well-written and accurate content for a variety of media including website, reports, and articles
2. To research new directions to be included on the site / in the articles
3. To enhance and improve the OBT site /articles/reports/communication materials
4. To collaborate with the design team for generating communication systems through Print /Visual to support the delivery of the program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receive data from SRMG MIS through designated processes
2. Strengthen Research
3. Create new pages with detailed, accurate, timely and up-to-date information regarding the participants, their families, communities, programmes, individual and collective achievements, etc. using a variety of sources of information, including interviews, commissioned and sourced articles, reports, interactions etc.
4. Interview executives, managers, families, community.
5. Write features and background information for programmes and participants for the web / reports.
6. Check details of new pages added to ensure that every page is 100% accurate
7. Occasional training of field staff for report writing
8. Editorial design of wording of templates to be used in OBT
9. Actively contribute to team meetings regarding new projects, suggesting ideas and brainstorming
10. Proof-read the work of all writing in OBT as required
11. Generate brochures, manuals, reading material books and presentation articles for supporting OBT activities.
12. Responsible for working with rest of the design team to create an aesthetically-pleasing package.
13. Discuss the main points of the articles and what is important to the story so that the designer can use these elements to create an attractive story package that will grab reader attention.
14. Work to tight deadlines.
Essential skills, experience and abilities:
1. Experience of writing, preferably for different types of media, e.g. web, book, magazine
2. Ability to write reviews and features in a descriptive but concise style.
3. Ability to grasp technical and intangible concepts
4. Excellent computer skills
5. Ability to conduct broad-based research, including internet searches; databases; and collecting information from MIS systems.
6. Ability to write short or long articles, Internet content and different versions of an article for different audiences.
7. Exposure to CSR related programmes.
8. Willingness to travel if required
Desirable skills, experience and abilities
1. Formal qualification in writing / journalism / English
2. Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and writing for the web
3. Experience of Adobe ImageReady / Photoshop / Pagemaker / Content Management Systems / MS Word and Excel
