Amir Or will read his poetry at the Jewish Cultural Center on Sunday, March 27, at 2 p.m. Born in Tel Aviv, Or is a poet, translator, editor, and is the author of seven volumes of poetry. His poems have been published in 30 languages and his many awards include the Prime Minister’s Prize, the Bernstein Prize, and a Fulbright Award. Or has held fellowships at University of Iowa, the Jewish-Hebrew Centre of the University of Oxford, and the Heinrich Boll Foundation.

Amir Or is a key player in promoting poetry internationally. He formed the Arabic-Hebrew Helicon Poetry School in 1993, founded the Sha’ar International Poetry Festival, and is the national coordinator of the U.N.-sponsored Poets for Peace.
