Hong Kong Arts Development - 2011/ 2012 Clore Leadership Programme in UK
Deadline: 18 March 2011

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) now invites applications for the Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Leadership Programme 2011/12. The Scholarship supports candidates with leadership potential to undertake a series of tailor-made and flexible leadership training programmes in the United Kingdom to broaden their international exposure.

It is the third consecutive year that ADC partners with the UK Clore Leadership Programme (CLP) to present the Scholarship. The Scholarship is funded by the Home Affairs Bureau and aims to enhance the leadership capacity in the Hong Kong arts and cultural sector and nurture creative talents.

Successful candidate(s) will engage with Fellows of the CLP in a programme of intensive leadership training and secondment in the UK for a period of up to 6 months on a full-time basis from September 2011 to August 2012.

The selected candidate(s) will stay in the UK for two substantial periods. The first period will be 1-2 months in September/October 2011. The second period will be about 3-4 months from April/May to late July 2012. The candidate(s) will take part in two intensive residential leadership courses and professional development through mentoring, coaching, tuition, research and placement in a UK cultural institution during the periods.

The total value of the Scholarship is £20,000 per award of which a bursary of up to £14,000 will be provided to cover the cost of tuition and conference fees, accommodation and subsistence, and airfares. The CLP will also provide at no cost with accommodation, tuition and meals at two fortnight long residential courses and access to a mentor who will be a senior figure in the cultural field in the UK.

The Scholarship has been launched since 2009. Ms Margaret Yang, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, was awarded the Scholarship in 2009/10. Mr. Chan Woon-wai, Assistant Manager in the Cultural Services Branch of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), and Ms. Lynn Yau, Chief Executive Officer of The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC) were awarded the Scholarship in 2010/11. The Scholarship recipients not only gained invaluable experience from the programme, but also took the precious opportunities to meet with many prominent arts practitioners.

Application forms and detailed information of the Scholarship are now available at the ADC’s Administration Office (14/F, East Warwick House, Taikoo Place, 979 King’s Road, Hong Kong) and can be downloaded from the ADC’s website www.hkadc.org.hk.
