Freelance Journalist, Asian deals

Position Summary:

Ascend is looking for a freelance journalist to provide cutting edge coverage of Asian aviation deals for a premium online financial information service aimed at senior aerospace investors, leasing companies, airlines, financiers and executives.

Ascend is positioned to provide unique perspective on the $100 billion global aircraft transaction market. Our customers are actively seeking insightful information on their competitors, deals they could chase, market share within their peer group and market opinion on historical, current and pipeline of transactions. As such, Ascend is launching a new service that will meet this market need and support the Fleet and Values historical databases with an editorial voice.

The role focuses on delivering intelligence and analysis on the very latest, and/ or pending deals in the aircraft market; such as aircraft sales, deliveries and new aircraft leases.

Duties and responsibilities:

There are approximately 1,200 deliveries each year by aircraft manufacturers. All these deliveries have to be financed - by cash, bank loan or export credit, through leasing companies, banks or the airline groups themselves.

Utilising the Ascend Online database, which provides information about future aircraft deliveries, desk-based research and contacts in the aviation finance market the freelance journalist will uncover the financing arrangements of key aviation transactions, providing new and forward-looking aviation intelligence.

News coverage will be agreed in advance with the editor and will mainly comprise two to three 200-300 word deal articles per week. There will be the alternative possibility of writing longer, feature-based articles from time to time.

Key skills required:

* Three years of journalistic experience ideally within finance or aviation sectors
* Native English speaker, with accurate and fluent English writing skills. Chinese language preferable and other languages a bonus.
* Ability to dig out scoops and forward looking market intelligence and to write concise and compelling copy
* Working knowledge of Asian capital markets.
