SAARC COLLECTION OF POEMS2011
1. INTRODUCTION
South Asian Countries are very rich in poetry and other art forms, although they are not widespread outside the region. The SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo has launched a programme to promote South Asian Literature. A Collection of Poems featuring contemporary poets in the SAARC Region will be published annually, by the SAARC Cultural Center, Colombo to open avenues for international exposure to poets in Member States. All Member States are requested to send a minimum of five poems on any theme, in original language with an English translation to represent the Country, as per the following guidelines. Poems will be published in both original and the English language.
2. SUBMISSIONS
• All member states are requested to select an editor to edit all English translations of the selected poems.
• The final edited versions of the translated poems with the original poems in native language have to be submitted to the SAARC Cultural Centre, Colombo.
• As an honorarium for editing, the editor will be paid US $ 100 after the work has been completed and submitted to the SAARC Cultural Centre. The editor’s name will be published in the collection.
• In addition, the author names will be duly acknowledged.
3. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submissions should contain:
1. Poet’s name, affiliation, postal address, e-mail address, phone numbers
2. Title and the poem (in native language and the edited version of the English translation)
3. Brief biographical entry of the Poet, not exceeding 100 words (This will be published with the poem)
4. Translator’s name, to be published
5. Editor’s name, affiliation and brief bibliographical entry
6. Software to open the text in native language
The poems should be sent to the SAARC Cultural Centre, 224, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7, Sri Lanka.(or e-mailed to - sccpublications@gmail.com). All poems should contain a hard copy and an electronic format. The electronic document could be e-mailed or sent via a CD. The document should be saved in Microsoft word, Rich Text Format.
4. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
The edited poems and all the requested information should be submitted to the SAARC Cultural Centre, on or before 31st May 2011.
