With Valentine's Day just around the corner, love is in the air! How about writing a French poem or translating a French poem to Telugu/Hindi? L’amour toujours, “Love forever” is the chosen theme for the competition.
Choose one if those 3 categories to write your poem:
(1) Poems written in French
(2) Telugu translations of French poems
(3) Hindi translations of French poems
Everybody and anybody who wishes to participate will have to send in their entries by Mon, 14th Feb to Alliance Française by post or by e-mail to francehyderabad@afindia.org.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Alliance Française of Hyderabad is organising a Poetry Competition on the occasion of Valentine’s Day 2011, with the theme "l’amour toujours".
There are 3 categories, which will have separate prizes:
1. Category 1: Poems written in French language,
2. Category 2: Poems translated from French into Telugu,
3. Category 3: Poems translated from French into Hindi.
Open to all, adults and youngsters, resident in Andhra Pradesh.
There are two categories of participants:
A. French learners.
The “French learners” category includes all students or ex-students of French (school, college, university, …).
B. Professionnals.
The “Professionnal category includes: teachers of French, translators/interpreters in French, holders of M.A. in French, C2 certificate, French nationals, Foreigners from French speaking countries).
Each participant must send a maximum of 2 texts: 1 or 2 poems in French, or 1 poem and 1 translation from French, or 2 translations from French. The texts submitted should be original, never published. The texts should be of 20 verses / lines maximum.
The entries should be sent to Alliance Française of Hyderabad before Thursday, 11th February 2011, 6pm, by mail at: , or handed over to AF reception.
There will be 3 different juries for the 3 categories. Each jury will comprise of 1 Professor, 1 Writer/Critic, 1 Translator/Cultural Personnality).
Criterias for selection of the best poems:
1. Literary quality of the text produced;
2. Originality of the theme;
3. Originality of the vocabulary;
4. Spelling and grammar;
5. Quality of translation (for categories 2 and 3);
Ideas for translation: Candidates who wish to translate French poems into Telugu or into Hindi may choose from any collection of poems written by great French poets. AF suggests a few poems (available at AFH library):

Prizes:
There will be prizes to be won in each category. The prizes will be remitted to the winners during a special evening organised at the AFH premises on 25th February, 2011. In addition, the winning poems will be published in a special number of the newsletter “Rendez-vous”, issued at the moment of the inauguration of the new premises (spring 2011); on AFH website; in the AFH premises (exhibition). Alliance Française will have the right to publish the poems, fully or partly,
without being liable to copyright on the texts submitted.
