Writer (National Capital Reg)
Responsibilities:
• Create and edit new product names and descriptions in collaboration with the products and marketing teams
• May be asked to perform data-entry tasks from time to time in collaboration with the products team
• Create and edit email newsletters, press releases, promotional copy, destination content, web marketing copy, customer service letters, etc
• Research and write original blogs, destination recommendations and other travel-oriented content
• Concept and write scripts for video, corporate presentations, PowerPoint and Key Note presentations, sales collateral, and other marketing mediums
• Develop and maintain the company editorial style guide, plus assist internal staff to teach and train others in approved usage and style
• Work across time and distance barriers to facilitate effective communication – both within the company and externally
• Work as part of the marketing and product teams, and will assist in the ongoing development of the company “voice” in order to represent the brand in all communications and customer-facing materials
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of professional writing experience (writing samples required)
• Bachelor's Degree in English, journalism, writing or related field
• Superb communicator and ability to write clean, sharp creative messaging
• Outstanding writing, editing and grammatical knowledge
• Familiarity with AP Style
• Strong analytical and creative thinking skills, playful sense of humor in writing style
• Ability to work independently under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Willingness and enthusiasm for taking on new project work when required
• Superb time-management and prioritization skills
• Strong work ethic with a high degree of accuracy and a keen eye for detail and follow-through
• Team player with a positive, “can-do” attitude, and willing to go the extra mile
