BCI Asia, the publisher of FuturArcTM and Architecture@TM yearbook, is seeking a Managing Editor. FuturArcTM is a progressive quarterly journal advocating sustainable built environments in Asia Pacific. The Architecture@TM yearbook reviews designs of future buildings within this region.
Managing Editor (Singapore)
Responsibilities:
The Managing Editor will manage the editorial and production of the publications and help produce circulation strategies, develop associated digital content and provide departmental support for international design competitions and events under the FuturArcTM label.
Reporting to the Publishing Director/Chief Editor, the Managing Editor is required to:
* Implement the editorial plan for each issue;
* Be responsible for any publication published under the FuturArc label including the implementation of standards, and daily supervision of editorial staff to ensure deadlines are met and issues are published on time;
* Manage contributions from correspondents and freelance writers;
* Manage flow of editorial to designer;
* Plan the content and layout of each issue, including material to be published;
* Approve the page layouts, dummies and page proofs;
* Write, edit and proofread;
* Approve expenditures for artwork and manuscripts, and assist with budget preparation;
* Make presentations at events associated with FuturArc;
* Attend conferences on architecture and green building.
Requirements:
* Good English language, journalism or mass communications degree with a minimum 8 years of relevant editorial experience, preferably in a supervisory role
* Knowledge of architecture/design issues would be advantageous
* Independent self-starter who works well in a cross-functional team environment
* Creative and enthusiastic
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Confident, resourceful and works well under pressure
* Willingness to travel and make presentations at FuturArc events
