January 30, in the entertainment centre ”Saryarka will be held Awards Ceremony for winners of International Arts & Essay Competition. More than 1000 children from Kazakhstan and the Asian countries took an active part in the competition held under the project "Cultural Asiad”. In countries belonging to the Olympic Council of Asia, the collection of entries was done by National Olympic Committees.
In Kazakhstan, assistance in advancing the project was provided by "Nur-Otan” party. Thanks to regional branches of the Party, residents of the most remote areas of the country could take part in the competition.
Geography of the competition was from the village “Beregovoye” in Pavlodar region to Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur. This was the main objective of the Arts & Essay competition. On the one hand, we have enabled Asian countries which are due to climate conditions are not strong in winter sports compete for awards in the cultural program of the Games.
Within Kazakhstan, it was important to make the Asian Games a real celebration not only for the residents of Astana and Almaty, but for all of Kazakhstan without exception – says Mr. Nail Nurov, head of Astana Direction for arrangements of 7th Asian Winter Games.
The winners' names were known in December, after a held meeting of the judging panel of the competition. Announcement of the results a month before the Awards ceremony was made in such a way that participants could have time to get to Astana to the start of the Games, in whatever remote corner of the Asian continent they lived.
On 25, January capital is already hosting the first winners from Kuala Lumpur, Shymkent and Hromtau. Afterwards, winners are arriving from Pavlodar, Karaganda, Semipalatinsk and Ridder. On 30 January, other 10 contestants from Astana will join to the group of winners whose works were highly marked by the jury.
According to the regulations of the competition, the organizing committee of “Cultural Asiad" fully covers the costs of travel and accommodation for winners and their accompanying persons. In addition, all winners are provided with special guest’s accreditation cards which grants them to visit all cultural events and sports competitions in Astana without exception.
After the Awards ceremony in the entertainment centre “Saryarka” children will meet with OCA Chairman for Culture and Education Committee – Mr. Hemasiri Fernando who proposed the idea of the competition. Then winners will witness Astana Stage of Torch Relay, and in the evening on Jan. 30 will participate in the Opening Ceremony of 7th Asian Winter Games.
Full program of stay of the guests has been created until the end of Asian Games. Children have already wished to visit the ethnic-cultural landscape show "World of Nomads", an exhibition of sporting equipments and concerts of “Voice of Astana” project.
Guests from Kuala Lumpur are planning to visit a hockey match between Malaysia and Bahrain. Kazakh children expressed a preference for finals in Short track and hockey game between Kazakhstan and Korea.
