Apply for the Charles Wallace India Trust for Short Research or Professional Visit (Literature and Creative Arts)
SHORT RESEARCH or PROFESSIONAL VISITS

Open for applications for 2011-12.

Every year CWIT offers between 10-15 grants towards the costs in the UK of short visits by academic research scholars and professionals working in the arts and humanities. These grants are generally sufficient for visits of up to 3 or 4 weeks. Applicants planning to stay longer need to supplement this grant from other sources. The grants do not cover international fares.

It is worth noting that researchers planning to use libraries such as the British Library can often prepare extensively by using on line sources, thus maximising the effectiveness of their time in the UK. Guidance on how to gain access to collections is also given on line.

Applications are considered from those doing archival research, consulting UK colleagues, preparing material for publication. While preference is given to post doctoral applicants doctoral students will also be considered.

Grants, currently up to £1000, are given at the discretion of the Secretary. Grants are not normally given for conference attendance.
