Announcement of winner: 17 March 2011
Writers from Japan, China, India and the Philippines are on the longlist for the Man Asian Literay Prize 2010, as announced yesterday by the award organizers. The list includes Japanese writer Kenzaburo Oe, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1994.
From a total of 54 submitted books by publishers (restricted to two titles each) from 14 different Asian countries, the books below made it to the 2010 longlist. The selection was made by Monica Ali, Homi K. Bhabha and Hsu-Ming Teo, this year's panel of judges.
The shortlist will be announced in February 2011, while the winner who will be awarded USD30,000 will be announced at an award dinner in Hong Kong on March 17, 2011.
