English and World Literature Instructor

Company Name: THE EDGE LEARNING CENTERS LIMITED

The Edge Learning Centers is seeking qualified teachers to instruct students in English and World Literature. In Hong Kong, many students hope to attend prestigious US and European Universities. In order to increase their chances of admission, students choose to sit for the IB English A1 examination, a very challenging examination that requires students to closely read and evaluate the effects of poetry, prose, and dramatic texts. This creates a staggering demand not for ordinary English language teachers, but for English teachers with strong backgrounds in literature and academic writing.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will hold a Master’s degree in English or a closely related field and have 2+ years of teaching experience. Experience in test preparation/academic counseling is a plus. Any candidate with at least a Bachelor’s in English and excellent writing and analytical skills will be considered.

Responsibilities

English and World Literature Instructors will plan and implement group and one-on-one lessons on literature and academic writing. In addition, instructors will have the opportunity to develop, write, and edit course materials.

Compensation

English and World Literature Instructors will receive a base salary commensurate with their experience and qualifications, monthly and annual performance bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Office located in Causeway Bay CBD.
