The essay competition is being held on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. (1863-2013)
Considering the importance of Swami Vivekananda's message for the regeneration of the nation, in particular his appeal to the youth. the Govt. of India had declared his birth day, i.e. 12th January, as the National Youth Day. The 150th Birth Anniversary of Swamiji is fast approaching and the Prime Minister has formed a National Committee to celebrate the event across the country over the next four years.
This competition is one such effort in that direction.
Essay Topic
* The competition is open to any student of a college in Delhi and the NCR region.
* The competition will be both in English and Hindi.
* The students will have to write an essay in about 1,500 to 2,000 words.
* The topic will be closely related to the contents of a book to be distributed to the participants at the time of registration.
* The book is a compilation from the works of Swami Vivekananda titled "Swami Vivekananda on India and Her Problems"
* The topic, however, will be given on the day of the competition and participants are supposed to write the essay on the spot.
How to take part
Those who are interested should do the following:-
* Contact the administrative office at your college for a copy of the 4-page which contains the registration form.
* In case the brocure is not available at the college office, you will need to collect it from the office at Ramakrishna Mission, Paharganj, New Delhi or you can download the four pages of the brouchure by clicking below.

* The first two pages of the brochure gives the details of the competition, and pages three and four is the registration form.
* The registration form, duly filled, should be submitted at the address mentioned below by 30th December 2010. There is a registration fee of Rs. 20 per participant.
* Each participant will also get a book titled "Swami Vivekananda on India and Her Problems" at the time of registration.
Prizes
The following five prizes will be given to the winners.
1. Rs. 15,000/-
2. Rs. 12,000/-
3. Rs. 10,000/-
4. Rs. 8,000/-
5. Rs. 5,000/-
Out of the prize money, 1/3rd of the amount will be given by way of our literature and the rest will be given in cash.
There will be 50 consolation prizes where students will be awarded books worth Rs. 100/- each.
Besides, we will also issue attractive certificates for the first 125 winners.
