Role Purpose

This role is responsible for drafting speeches, speeches, op-eds, articles and public addresses for the key personnel as may be required, that reflect the strategic image and messages of the Organization. The role holder ensures that the speeches are consistent with the vision, image and policies of Qatar and address relevant economical, social and cultural trends and policies. This person will work with senior colleagues, Media Office and Strategic Communications to identify strategic communications priorities to be driven forward through speeches and op-eds/articles. Traveling is required.

Key Accountabilities

• Identify, write and edit a broad variety of strategic-level communications in English for internal and external audiences globally, including:
1. Speeches, Talking points, Letters, Briefing Material, Newsletters, Op-eds, Posters, Articles etc.
2. Management/ Organizational Memorandums
3. Client communications
4. Miscellaneous, employee related news, notifications and information
• Provide advice and guidance to executive management on key messages, appropriate tone, target audiences and suitable communications channels
• Work closely with all directorates and communications partners across the organization to ensure consistent messaging among the leadership team
• Liase with the PR Directorate to understand event or engagement specifics and to incorporate relevant messages
• Maintains and updates an electronic library of public addresses, articles, op-eds and speeches
• Facilitates the sharing of information/speeches/content as required
• Remains abreast of trends in media, public relations, and the policies of Qatar to incorporate relevant trends into the speeches
• Researches and obtains information relevant to the subject matter in order to clearly illustrate the point being conveyed.

Skills

• Masters degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs or other relevant degree.
• Strong experience in writing speeches, articles, op-eds and public addresses in English for senior level executives, business leaders, state officials or diplomats.
• Excellent English writing skills including ability to define and write key messages about complex matters in clear, concise and understandable prose understood by all audiences and constituencies.
• Minimum Work Experience of 8 - 10 years writing speeches for Heads of State, Diplomats or other such dignatories
• Middle East experience mandatory
• Communicating effectively (oral and written): Should have excellent interpersonal and outstanding oral and written communication skills. Be confident in dealing with a wide range of people, including senior officials, and members of the public.
• Knowing the business: Should be a fast learner to understand the organizational priorities and key messages. Be able to present complex ideas and arguments cohesively and authoritatively.
• Able to promote and convey consistent strategic image in speeches and public addresses of the leader
• Able to identify, evaluate and incorporate policy decisions and economical, social and cultural trends into speeches and public addresses.
• Able to perform various assignments simultaneously with changing priorities in a high pressure environment and meet multiple deadlines
• Skilled in collecting, compiling, organizing information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
