Vacancy: Bilingual Features Writer for Etihad Inflight Magazine
ITP Customer Publishing is looking for a talented, hardworking and passionate Arabic features writer to work across the Etihad Airways group of in-flight publications. Etihad Airways is the national airline of the UAE, and flies from Abu Dhabi to 65 destinations worldwide. ITP produces four exciting publications for Etihad Airways: Etihad Inflight, the travel and lifestyle in-flight magazine; Aspire, the business and luxury travel publication produced for Etihad’s first and business class guests; E-Box, the monthly entertainment guide; and Exclusives, the duty free catalogue.

This customer publishing position will involve working with a dedicated team to come up with and produce creative features for the Arabic section across a broad range of topics including: culture, travel, business, art, design, architecture, motoring, sport, interviews, news and more. The Arabic features writer will be hardworking and dedicated and will demonstrate equal flair for short, snappy pieces and longer investigations. In addition, the features writer will play a key role in sub-editing, translation from English to Arabic, images research and regular magazine duties.

The ideal candidate will be: a graduate with around three years in-house experience; a proven track record in creative travel and lifestyle writing; an obsessive eye for detail and considerable sub-editing experience; a demonstrated ability to think on their feet; the capacity to work both independently and as part of a multi-cultural team.

Specific requirements are:

1. Arabic as a mother tongue with good command of English.
2. Strong writing & editing skills.
3. Strong knowledge of modern standard Arabic grammar.
4. Strong ability to translate sophisticated articles from English to Arabic.
5. A portfolio of Arabic travel, culture and lifestyle articles is desirable.
6. Equal enthusiasm for writing interesting news articles and regular magazine sections.
7. Minimum three years of in-house editorial experience.
8. Superlative organization, time management skills and a team player.
9. The flexibility to work with a client.
10. InDesign and sub-editing expertise.
