The Thiruvarul Peravai, an inter-religious forum for peace and harmony in the district, has decided to organise a district-level essay writing contest in Tamil, Malayalam and English on the theme ‘promotion of religious harmony'.
Only one student from an institution can participate. The students are at the liberty to choose any one language.
The essay, in neat handwriting, should not exceed five pages (1000 words). All essays should be accompanied by a certificate issued by the Head of the Institution that the writer is a bona fide student.
The name and address of the student should be clearly typed or handwritten on a separate sheet of paper to be attached to the essay. The essay should not bear the name or the institution of the contestant. All essays would be assigned dummy numbers to maintain secrecy.
The essays should be sent at the following address in a sealed envelope with the superscription: Thiruvarul Peravai Essay Contest. H. Mohamed Ali, Correspondent- Secretary, Muslim Arts College, Thiruvithancode – 629 174, Kanyakumari District. before 5 p.m on November 20.
First three prizes would be given separately for all three languages. And the prizes (cash award with books and certificate) would be distributed by Collector Rajendra Ratnoo at the Thiruvarul Peravai Thirunal-Mupperum Vizha to be held on December 11, 2010 at Nagercoil. Due intimation would be sent to the winners.
The first prize would be Rs.3,000, second prize Rs.2,000 and the third prize Rs.1,000.
