UNV's organizational theme for IVD this year is- Volunteering for the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals). This is a crucial year in furthering the support needed to achieve the MDGs by 2015. Millions of volunteers need to get actively involved to help achieving the goals.
Joining Hands is pleased to announce an Essay writing and Slogan writing competition to spread greater awareness about MDGs with a hope of involving more and more people to join the movement for achieving MDGs by 2015.

Contest Rules
1. The competition is open to Indian youth residing in India and between 16- 25 years of age. There is no entry fee. A participant is allowed to take part in both contests but only one entry per participant in English will be considered.
2. Essay word limit is 1500 words, typed and double-spaced.
3. Word limit for Slogan writing is between 20-30 words.
4. It should be your own work; however, in case of reference it should be cited.
5. Submit your entries online to info@joininghandsindia.org along with your contact details, scanned copy of a passport size photograph and ID proof indicating your age.
6. No entry will be returned back. The copyright of entries will be with Joining Hands
7. Last day for receipt of entries is November 25, 2010. All eligible submissions will go through preliminary and semi-final rounds. Results will be declared on 5th December 2010.
8. The judges' decision will be final.
Prizes
1. Prizes for first, second and third place winners(for each category)
2. 25 medals and citations ( for each category)
3. Certificate of merit to the deserving entries (for each category)
4. Winning entries will be published on Joining Hands website.
5. The slogan can be used for the IVD theme in India for 2011 along with the UNV theme
6. Winners will get a chance to be get involved during International Day of Volunteers 2011
