TE WHARE PURAKAU LECTURE SERIES is a workshop on storytelling and writing with an indigenous flavour designed to inspire and encourage Maori and Pacific peoples to write and tell their stories in a number of genres and modern formats.

Profile of Brad Haami
Brad (Ngati Awa, Ngati Kahungunu, Tuwharetoa, Ngai Tahu) brings to Tauihu Media expertise in Māori culture and a passion for traditional and modern stories.
A trained journalist with a long history in television production with one of New Zealand’s main national broadcasters and independently, Brad has worked as a writer, director and or producer of numerous highly rating and critically acclaimed documentaries and television series. Brad’s passion in drama began as a writer and producer of the seminal ‘Mataku’ television series. He has gone on to consult on numerous domestic and international TV dramas and feature films. Brad is also a published author with a string of books and articles to his credit. In 2010, Brad was chosen as the Michael King Māori Writer in Residence, writing a book on Whale Traditions of the Māori.
