Bloomsbury Qatar Children’s Literary Festival in Conjunction with Launch of Fall 2010 List
Dates: 1 - 3 December 2010

Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing (BQFP) proposes to host a literary festival in Doha, Qatar in December 2010 to further support the development of the emerging literary community in Qatar as well as feature prominent authors and speakers from the Middle East and international communities with a specialisation in children’s literature. The aims of the inaugural festival are in two major areas: to celebrate the best in children’s book publishing in Arabic and English as to promote a literary culture amongst school age children. It is intended that this will be an annual occasion organized by BQFP in conjunction with other local and international entities with similar goals. This will be Doha’s first International Children’s Book Festival, and will feature public events for schools and families as well as professional events for writers and illustrators of children’s books. Simultaneous interpretation will be available at all public events as well as an exhibition of best-selling and prize-winning picture books in Arabic and English
