Asia Catalyst is currently looking for an editor for Asia Report (www.yazhoudiaocha.com), a Chinese-English website on current developments in economic, social, cultural issues in Southeast Asia.
Asia Catalyst, a US-based NGO, provides training and technical support on organizational development and rights documentation and advocacy for grassroots AIDS organizations in East and Southeast Asia.
Job Title: Editor, Asia Report, www.yazhoudiaocha.com
Office: This position will be based in Chiang Mai
Job Summary: The Asia Report editor, working with the HIV Information in Myanmar (HIM) editor, will be jointly responsible for the merging of the two websites into one platform (new name to be determined).
He or she will oversee the content of AR, and will be responsible for building a team of reporters and Chinese translators to cover current developments in economic,social and cultural rights (ESCR) issues in Asia.
The AR editor will also be responsible for promoting and exploring potential partnerships with civil society and academic institutions working on similar issues.
This position is half-time or 20 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with HIM editor and a web designer to redesign the new website.
Work with Asia Catalyst SEA program director and the HIM team to
develop a one-year strategic plan for the merged platform
Create a work plan based on the strategic plan
Manage and monitor budget
Recruit a team of reporters
Develop areas for research
Edit articles and op-ed submissions
Maintain and update database of HIV/AIDS-related laws in Asia
Oversee daily operation of website
Act as Asia Catalyst liaison and conduct outreach to potential civil
society and academic partners; organize and facilitate online symposia with NGOs
and academics
Cover important HIV/AIDS conferences

Qualifications:*
Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
Fluent in Chinese and English
Experience, knowledge of Asia and HIV/AIDS and other ESC rights

Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong
interpersonal skills
Project management skills; experience supervising others
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver on deadlines
Proficiency in web applications and operating systems preferred, but
not required
