NIT, Durgapur invites applications from Indian nationals, possessing excellent academic background, commitment to quality teaching, potential for carrying out outstanding research, and an inclination towards institutional development for the faculty positions at the level of Professor and Associate Professor in various Disciplines of the Institute.

The Institute reserves the right to call for interview all the eligible candidates or short listed candidates after a screening by the Institute and / or defer or cancel the selection process at the discretion of the Institute without assigning any reason whatsoever. The decision of the Institute in this regard will be final and binding on all the applicants who respond to this advertisement. No interim communication on the status of application will be entertained.

Ph.D. Degree with first class degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in appropriate discipline with at least 10 (ten) years Teaching/ Research / Industrial experience, out of which at least 4 (four) years should be at the level of Associate Professor (AGP: Rs.9,000/-) or equivalent. Candidate should have experience of guiding research at Post Graduate/ Ph.D. level.

Ph.D. Degree with first class degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in appropriate discipline with minimum 6 (six) years Teaching/ Research / Industrial experience, out of which at least 3 (three) years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent grade with AGP: Rs.8,000/-. Candidate should have experience of guiding research at Post Graduate/ Ph.D. level.

Application Fee:
Application fee for various faculty positions as mentioned in advertisement is Rs.600/- (Rupees six hundred). Without application fee, no application will be scrutinized. Application fee in the form of Bank Draft addressed to “The Director, NIT, Durgapur” payable at SBI, R.E. College Branch, Durgapur-713209 should be accompanied with each application form.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
1) Application only in the given format along with summery sheet will be entertained. Separate application is required for each faculty position.
2) Copies of certificates, mark sheets, testimonials etc should be attached with the application (attested by competent authority) and the originals must be produced at the time of interview and at the time of joining, if selected. The selected candidates shall produce in original the Matriculation or equivalent certificate as proof of the date of birth. No other evidence will be accepted.
3) The calculations of qualifying service for pension(new pension scheme) and other retirement benefits etc. shall be as per Government of India rules and as amended from time to time by the Government of India.
4) Other allowance like Group Insurance Scheme, LTC, Medical Reimbursement, Leave etc are admissible as per Institute rules applicable to new recruitees from time to time and as per MHRD/Board of Governors guidelines.
5) Suitable residential accommodation as per Institute rules may be provided within the campus of the Institute on joining subject to availability.
6) Any misleading or wrong information supplied may lead to summary rejection of application/appointment, if found subsequently.
7) Canvassing in any form by or on behalf of a candidate will be disqualification.
8) The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill any of the post(s) advertised.
9) Those who are serving in State/Central Govt./Establishment/NITs/ IITs /Universities etc. may have their previous services considered as per Institute rules applicable to new recruitees from time to time and as per GOI guidelines.
10) Additional sheets may be attached, in the same format, wherever the space allocated is felt to be insufficient.
11) Mere fulfillment of minimum qualification and experience requirements for a post does not entitle the candidate to be called for an interview. The Institute reserves the right to shortlist and restricts the number of candidates interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience. The number and / or level of positions / posts may also vary as per the need of the Institute at the time of recruitment.
12) Depending on perceived availability of qualified candidates, different departments may set different short listing criteria.
13) Minimum requirement of experience may be relaxed for outstanding candidates.
14) Experienced and/ or meritorious candidates may be granted higher than starting pay on recommendation of selection committees.
15) Candidates in Govt. / Semi Govt. / Govt. undertakings or Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel and a “No-objection Certificate” from the employer be furnished at the time of interview. If original application is routed through proper channel, a copy of the application should be sent in advance before the prescribed / stipulated last date.
16) The Institute authority reserves the right to accept and / or cancel the recommendation of Selection Committee without assigning any reason.
17) Candidates called for interview will be reimbursed Railway Fare in AC-II tier class with reservation charges for Professor level positions and for all other positions, Second class sleeper charges.
18) The decision of the Director of the Institute in the matter of screening of candidates to be called for Interview and selection is final and binding.
19) The Institute will not be responsible under any circumstances for any sort of postal delivery/delay.
20) Applications in the prescribed format should be dispatched through Speed Post/Registered Post/ Courier in sealed envelope super scribed with “Application for the Post of…………in the Deptt. of ………..” and addressed to “Registrar (I/C), National Institute of Technology Durgapur, Mahatma Gandhi Avenue, Durgapur-713 209, West Bengal, India.
21) Enclosures such as Publication, Research Plan, Summary sheet etc. as stated in the application form should be sent along with the application.
22) Applications on plain paper or received late after last date of receiving due to Postal / Courier / Speed Post delay will not be considered. Incomplete applications or applications without application fee or without proper testimonials or short fall of papers in applications will not be considered.
23) No correspondence whatsoever will be entertained from the candidates regarding postal delays, conduct and result of interview and reasons for not being called for interview or selection.
