The Newberry Medal seeks to encourage original creative work in the field of books for children. It is the first children's book award in the world. Grace Lin won this year, along with three other children's book writers, for Where the Mountain Meets the Moon published by Little, Brown and Company. Lin is featured in August 28 issue of Nie World Newspaper in Education.
