Overview:
The School of Languages and Linguistics (LAL) seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Chinese (continuing). The successful applicant will convene and teach in Chinese language courses at the Nathan and Gold Coast campuses, publish high quality research, supervise honours and postgraduate students, and contribute to service activities within the university and the broader community.

This is a Continuing, Full time position based at the Gold Coast and Nathan campuses.

The Role:
As a member of the Chinese teaching team you will convene and teach in undergraduate Chinese (Mandarin) language courses at the Nathan and Gold Coast campuses, and be responsible for the design and development of teaching materials and online resources for these courses. You may be also required to develop and deliver intensive short courses at times. You will conduct and publish high quality research, apply for grants as appropriate, and supervise honours and postgraduate students. The role also involves undertaking a share of the school's administrative responsibilities and participating in school, faculty and university meetings and in relevant professional associations and community activities.

The Person:
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in China studies, applied linguistics or another field relevant to the position, and have native or near-native proficiency in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English. You will have relevant experience in teaching Chinese at tertiary level and convening courses, knowledge of current language-teaching methodologies and the ability to work in a team-teaching environment. The capacity to publish high quality research is also essential.

Salary Range:
Lecturer level B: $73,388 - $87,151 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $85,865 - $101,967 per annum.
