Primarily, we are a Spiritual publisher (Australian based but titles promoted and available globally) of Mind Body Spirit books for Children. Our books range from early reader picture books through to novels for teenagers. We are passionate advocates for this genre of books (spiritual / mind body spirit books) and therefore we also act as a hub to promote other smaller publishers or self publishers, where ever possible. We also publish some Conscious Parenting novels also.

Looking for:

Children's Mind-Body-Spirit books - Also called, 'new age', 'holistic', 'spiritual' or 'spirituality' books for children - needless to say, they embrace love, touch the heart, kindle the spirit & enlighten the mind.

We also publish some Conscious Parenting and adult spiritual novels.

Submission Guidelines:

1. Please be sure that your NAME and ADDRESS are on your manuscript when posted. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter, including author's name, address, phone number, email and the word count of the story.

SORRY BUT WE DO NOT ACCEPT MANUSCRIPTS BY EMAIL. (Unless we agree to do otherwise).

2. All manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced. Please keep a copy of your work. Please provide a HARD COPY and DISK COPY of your work. We make every effort to look after manuscripts but cannot be responsible for manuscripts lost in the mail.

Enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage (not a check or cash) for our response and return of the manuscript (if you wish to have it back), or for response only if the manuscript need not be returned. International Authors - unfortunately we cannot send manuscripts back as your cheques and return postage is not valid from Australia.

3. IMPORTANT: Please print and complete the following Author Questionnaire. This information is as important as your manuscript so please take your time in completing the document (to the best of your ability).

4. Sample illustrations are accepted but not necessary. We evaluate the text only at this stage. If you want us to see samples, do not send original art; send photocopies, addressed to the attention of the Art Director. For Art - submit several small, low-resolution samples of your work in jpg or pdf format on disk. If we would like to see the work at a higher resolution, we will request it at the appropriate time.

5. Some of you may wish to work with an artist before submitting your book to us. Thus ensuring you create the illustrations that you have visualised for your book. Please view our artists/illustrators webpage. Feel free to approach them.

6. It is important that you have proof-read the manuscript for spelling and grammatical errors before sending. Note: It is much easier to say Yes to a book that requires little or no editing rather than a book requiring substantial work.

7. Please send ONE manuscript at a time. We make every effort to respond in under three months, but can not guarantee that we will be able to do so, due to the volume of submissions. Please do not expect a lengthy personal response as we receive too many manuscripts to be able to comment on each one, sorry.

8. Once again, we strongly suggest that you review our website and the intent of our books to determine if your manuscript is appropriate for our Mind Body Spirit Publishing Company, primarily for children.

9. Novels: Pick-a-Woo Woo Publishers style follows the conventions set out in the Australian Government's Style Manual for Authors, Editors and Printers (6th edition, John Wiley & Sons, 2002). This is an excellent general guide to all aspects of book publication, and is used by most Australian publishers and government departments. If you don't have a copy, it's worth obtaining one.

10. Who can I contact to help me with getting my book published? For Australian authors the Australian Society of Authors has a very informative web site at http://www.asauthors.org, and we believe that this is probably the best place to start. The ASA web site has information on (and contacts for) editors, literary agents, ghost-writers and manuscript assessment services. The Australian Publishers Association (ph: 02 9281 9788) has a publication for sale titled 'Directory of Members' which could help you to ascertain which publishers would be most interested in your work. Each state and territory also has a Writer's centre and generally a variety of writers groups. These groups are an excellent resource for support, information, and encouragement.
