The first of its kind award in ASEAN, it is established to identify, recognize and reward professional and young, aspiring journalists who have reported on Green Technology, Sustainability and Environmental issues in ASEAN countries.
In addition, the competition aims to develop, nurture and advance quality reporting on these topics, and to educate and empower the communities in ASEAN Countries with more knowledge on these issues.
Siemens hopes that with more knowledge, people in this region will be able to understand better the profound effects of the megatrends that are affecting our world today - urbanization, globalization, climate change and demographic change - and how they can do their part to support a more sustainable world.
Eligibility:
* The competition is open to professional journalists who write for the print and online media; and university / polytechnic young journalists based in the ASEAN Countries (i.e. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.)
* For professional journalists, articles must be published in mainstream media: newspapers, magazines, websites. Blogs are excluded.
* For young journalists, articles must be published in mainstream media, or bulletins, newsletters and/or journals in their varsities.
* Only 1 (one) article may be submitted under each category, but entrants may enter as many categories as they like.
* Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Further, if plagiarism is noted in subsequent publications, the winner will be stripped of the award.
* Articles will automatically belong to this competition and must be published in ASEAN Countries publications during the competition period.
* If work is not published with the author's byline, a certificate needs to be provided by accredited source. It can be a letter from the publisher or editor.
Language:
* The language in which the entries will be assessed is English.
* However, considering the cultural diversity in ASEAN Countries, entries in country's official languages will be accepted too.
