Position: Poetry Coordinator
Location: Seoul, Korea
Seeking applicants from: Seoul, Korea
Contact: seoulwriters@gmail.com
Do you love poetry? Do you write poetry? Do you want to see a more developed poetry scene in Seoul? Then we want you! Seoul Writers Workshop needs a poetry coordinator to help expand and develop our poetry section. They need a person with ideas and motivation, but also the tact and skill to help others develop their talent.
Requirements:
1. One afternoon a month (initially) to moderate a poetry workshop - our workshops are currently held on Sunday afternoons, but if it were more convenient for you/the members of the workshop it can be another day. Our workshops aim to help people with their writing. Some people are more talented than others; some are more receptive to criticism than others. It would be your job to help balance these things. These workshops should not overlap with the other SWW workshop schedule.
2. Ideas for poetry events - slams, readings, open mike - which SWW will help you run if needed.
3. Ability to work with the SWW coordinators and moderators. We have always been a close-knit community and want to work with the poetry coordinator to further develop SWW. You will have freedom to grow the poetry group, though communication between coordinators is essential.
4. Willingness to participate in SWW's non-workshop events, such as the Every Second Sunday launch and other social functions.
5. A commitment of 6 months. We understand that people come and go in Korea, but we really need someone who is going to be here for at least 6 months.
6. Determination - things can take a while to build. You will need to be dedicated and not give up.
What SWW will do to help you:
1. Use of the SWW Facebook and ning networks to communicate with members
2. Help publicizing events
3. Support with problems/members etc
Please remember this is an unpaid role. They would be willing to consider this as a job sharing role with another person, as long as good communication was maintained. If you are interested in being poetry coordinator, please email Chris and Kathryn at seoulwriters@gmail.com with a short blurb about yourself.
