Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm.

This year we will be looking for the most innovative, thought provoking, and post-modern telling of a story in the Bible. It can be based on a short parable or a whole book in the Bible, but the challenge is to also remain as true to the story and its message as possible.

*The contest submission period will open from July 25, 2010 to September 26, 2010.

Grand Prize

* A book publishing contract from Ellechor Publishing House, LLC with a $1,500 advance
* A trip to Atlanta for our 2011 Convention/Launch Event

Basic Contest Rules

* Contestants must be 18 or older to enter
* Must be an unpublished work by a single author
* Manuscript must be a novel between 50,000 and 150,000 words
* Only one entry per contestant
* No simultaneous submissions
* Manuscripts submitted to Ellechor Acquisitions are ineligible
* Must be Christian Fiction/Christian Speculative Fiction
o Story can be in any additional categories

Judging Process

We will be judging using our editor's rubric for creativity, introduction, plot, organization, setting, character/character development, dialogue, problem/conflict, solution/resolution, spelling & punctuation. We highly recommend you have a professional copy-edit prior to submitting to avoid simple errors.

*All judges with be either Ellechor staff, an author published in contemporary fiction/ fantasy, an experienced writing coach or an experienced copy editor

* 1st Round: 300 Semi-finalist will be chosen, based on book synopsis and public votes
* 2nd Round: 50 Finalists will be chosen, based on book synopsis and first three-five chapters
* 3rd Round: 1st Place winner will be chosen, based on the entire novel
