Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad Noted Gujarati linguist and writer Dr Babu Suthar has been selected for the prestigious Diaspora Lekhan Paritoshik (Award for Diaspora Writings) for 2010.
Dr Suthar is the first to receive the literary award for diaspora writers, instituted by Rajkot-based the Gardi Research lnstitute of Diaspora Studies (GRIDS). In its award citation, the institute said the selection committee for the award has recognised and deeply appreciated Dr Suthar's contribution to Diaspora writings, especially his poems published in various journals. These poems are now in a collection ‘Gharjhurapo’ (homesickness). The award would be presented to Dr Suthar in October. Dr Suthar has worked on South Asian linguistics, Indo-Aryan linguistics and typological linguistics. He teaches at University of Pensilvania, US.
