Chair in Israel Studies Wanted by SFSU
San Francisco State University invites applications for the position of RICHARD & RHODA GOLDMAN CHAIR IN ISRAEL STUDIES, Asst. or Assoc. Prof. to begin Fall 2011. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree required; applicants at the Asst. level must, at a minimum, complete all doctoral requirements by August 1, 2011. We will consider candidates from a wide range of academic disciplines (including but not limited to anthropology, cultural studies, history, international relations, literature, modern Jewish thought, philosophy, political science, religious studies, sociology, and women’s/gender studies); broad familiarity with Jewish studies or Middle East studies is desirable.

Duties include teaching 2 classes per semester, both lower and upper division undergraduate courses, research, advising, curriculum development, and a commitment to public scholarship. Salary competitive, commensurate with qualifications; excellent benefits package.
