Sony-Dylan Thomas Prize for Unpublished Writers (UK)

The Dylan Thomas Prize is the world's largest literary award for young writers and this year, Sony UK is sponsoring a brand new award category.

The Sony Reader Award for Unpublished Writers has been created specifically to support unpublished British novel writers under the age of 30, using electronic book formats for the entire process; from submission of the entries through to judging and then publication.

The winner will receive a cash prize of £5,000 and see their book published in eBook format and made available for download in time for the Christmas season.

Who can enter?

Simple. Entrants must be:

* 30 years old or under
* Resident in the UK
* Unpublished writers

What can be entered?

* Novels only please (no poetry, plays, etc)
* The minimum word count for entries is 80,000
* Entries can be uploaded using the form below in any of the following formats: PDF, Word, EPUB or Text

Important dates

31st August 2010: deadline for entries

14th September 2010: a shortlist of three writers will be announced. Each of these shortlisted writers will spend a week in Wales, Dylan Thomas country, courtesy of Sony Reader.

1st December 2010: the winner of the Sony Reader Award will be announced at the Dylan Thomas Prize Awards Ceremony.
