Description: SIGNAL 8 PRESS is the flagship imprint of Typhoon Media, a Hong Kong-based publishing company established in early 2010. We publish engaging novels, short story collections, and nonfiction written in English. Specifically, we focus on East Asia and the Pacific Rim… but we’re less concerned about location than good writing. Just as Asia is a big place, fiction is a broad category, and nonfiction is even bigger. Some of the best books don’t fit neatly into one slot. If a book wows us, we’ll probably publish it. Our company was founded on the belief that with all the change in the publishing industry, now is the right time to get in and try something new. Many publishing companies and bookstores have closed in recent years, often because they were unprepared for these changes. We have been paying attention and trying to learn from those who have gone before. Also, although the whole world is watching Asia right now, we believe that the rest of the world knows very little about Asia. There’s a lot more to the Pacific Rim than chopsticks, smog, and The Chinese Market. There is an amazing sense of energy, possibility, and creativity here, and this is something we hope to tap into and share with the world.
