Premio dell’Amore/ The Love Award for Poetry (International)

Premio dell’Amore/ The Love Award for Poetry (International)
THE POETICS OF WALLS

A wall is an obstacle to sharing, a broken light, a barrier between people, families, cultures, souls. Over the centuries, lots of “monsters” have been born of walls: divisions, fights and wars.

This year, the Premio dell’Amore will be focussed on the Poetics of walls: an invitation to pull down walls, to read inside and beyond darkness and shadow, to make light break into the sky. Opening the houses, the boundaries of a country, of a city, of a living area, of the heart to welcome others, to walk together, speaking the same language: the poetry of depth, of identity and love.

The wall that collapses, that crumbles into stone, grass and new life horizons, into the freedom of dreaming, smiling and sharing.

See-through walls, talking walls: artistic performances that tell about life inside and outside walls, memories of pains and hopes in poetry and photography.

THE PURPOSE
The Empowerment Community Network – Fondazione Mare Nostrum, in conjunction with Parco Nazionale Cinque Terre, launches the third Premio dell’Amore 2010 in Riomaggiore (Cinque Terre). Photography and poetry tell the stories of places, people and populations, secluded, marginal or ancestral communities, which still open up to the world, while preserving their identity beyond the walls.

An international poetry and photography award as evidence of the importance of preserving the identitarian soul of a place and make different cultures talk to each other.

The jury will give a lifetime achievement award to some world-class celebrities and other awards to people who have distinguished themselves in the following categories.

Categories:
- Poetry
- Photography
- Local culture: to an organisation or a person who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of distinctive local traits and technological innovation in the sustainable development of a place.
