Filipino Paolo Javier Named Poet Laureate of NYC's Queens
Filipino poet PAOLO JAVIER has been named the Poet Laureate of NYC-Queens.

Javier was born in the Philippines and has traveled widely in Asia, the Middle East, and North America. He moved to New York in 1986. He is the author of 60 lv bo(e)mbs (O Books), Goldfish Kisses (Sona Books), and Megton Gasgan Krakooom (Cy Gist Press, forthcoming). Recipient of the Small Press Traffic Book of the Year Award, he edits 2nd Avenue Poetry, an online and print publisher of innovative language art.

The Queens Poet Laureate is a three-year, non-salaried appointment. Candidates must have lived in Queens for at least the past two years, had their work published, written poems about the borough and have a clearly articulated vision for serving.
