What written work does Blueprint publish?
We’re generally open to whatever ideas for content you may have. Surprise us. If you’re looking for a harder answer, in the past we’ve accepted the following:
* Essays and personal response pieces. Your own perspective on a personal experience or event.
* Editorials. Persuasive, issue-oriented pieces.
* Original articles. ‘Hard news’ pieces with original research, analysis and/or interviews.
* Literary fiction and non-fiction. The key is “literary” – we want imaginative, engaging, relevant stories.
* Poetry. Above all other content, we hold poetry submissions to the highest standards. Poems must be of exceptional quality to be printed.
Word Limits
There are no word limits (minimum or maximum) for submitted pieces. That being said, space in the print edition is limited. Please limit the submission of excessively long pieces and try to keep your submissions to 800 words or less. Pieces above the 800 word mark must be of high quality to be printed in full; otherwise, they will likely be edited down or placed exclusively on our website.
800 words not enough? Send us two drafts of your piece – one written as long as you like, and an edited version around the 800 word mark. If your piece is chosen for publication, the version that is printed will be dependent on the amount of space we have and the quality of your submission.
