Harold Witt Awards (Poetry)

15 May 2010
Harold Witt Awards (Poetry)
Free contest offers small prizes for poems published in the past three issues of Blue Unicorn, a venerable journal. No simultaneous submissions. Formal poetry welcomed.

Blue Unicorn has been publishing since 1977. It comes out in October, February and June. The magazine is 40 pages, narrow digest-sized, finely printed, saddle-stapled, with some art. Features 40-50 poems in each issue, all styles, with the focus on excellence and accessibility. Receives about 2,000 submissions a year, publishes about 150.

Deadline for this contest is rolling; winners are selected from poems published in previous three issues. As of 2010, they have a substantial backlog, so entrants should expect to wait at least a year before a submission is considered for an award.

Winner will win $100.
