Griffith Review Edition 30: Writing from the Rim
Deadline for submission: 25 June 2010
Publication Date: November 2010

Our second special fiction edition will focus on the Pacific region – from the Americas to China, Japan, South-East Asia, the islands of the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. What binds us, what pulls us apart, how can we make sense of such a diverse region connected by as vast roiling ocean.

As economic, political and cultural powers shift from North America and Europe to the Asia Pacific Region, Australia is enjoying a new relationship with its neighbours in the Pacific Rim. This collection, predominantly new short fiction with some travel memoir, will explore how the constant shift of individuals and ideas across borders, into new heterogeneous communities and ethnic enclaves, is giving rise to new voices in literature.

Writing from the Rim will draw on writers from around the Pacific Rim and Australian writers engaging with the region. This edition will also feature the announcement of the winners of the second annual Griffith REVIEW Emerging Writers Award.
