Winner of Dangdai Literary Prize Announced: Liu Zhenyun Beats Su Tong
Liu Zhenyun won the 2009 Dangdai Literary Prize for "A Word is Worth a Thousand Words." Her previous work, "My Name is Liu Yuejin" won the same award in 2007.

The shortlist included entry from Man Asia Prize winner Su Tong:

* Mo Yan's Frog
* A-Lai's King Gesar
* Su Tong's He'an
* Zhang Ling's Gold Mountain
* Liu Zhenyun's A Word is Worth a Thousand Words

This is the 5th year of the annual Dangdai best novel award. Dangdai literary magazine is run by the People's Literature Publishing House and is the non-governmental answer to the Mao Dun prize.
