The artists are the first set of recipients of the prestigious UP Artist Productivity System (APS) established by the UP Board of Regents (BOR) in its 1239th meeting in December 2008 aimed at encouraging outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarship for national development.

UP faculty members and research staff were evaluated using a set of high standards determined by a rigid screening system designed by a committee of peers and approved by the BOR.
