The University of Scranton (USA) will be the venue for the 24th MELUS Conference, a multicultural literary convention happening from April 8 to 11, 2010. The 4-day convention will feature workshops, readings, and educational panels with Jay Parini, Marilyn Chin, among others.
Known as the Society for the Study of Multi-Ethnic Literature of the Unites States, MELUS was founded in 1973 with a mission of expanding the definition of American literature through the study of teaching Asian and Pacific American literary works, among other cultural contexts.
Professor Chin will discuss the role of poetry in Ethno-American Literature. She is an American poet whose family immigrated from Hong Kong. Her literary works focus on issues related to Asian-American feminism and multicultural identity.
