Famous Writer Vinda Karandikar Dies at 92
Govind Vināyak Karandikar died on March 14 at the age of 92. Vinda Karandikar was a multi-awarded poet (Jnanpith Award, Keshavasute Prize, Soviet Land Nehru Literary Award, Kabir Samman) and was granted the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship for lifetime achievement in poetry. Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranaraya referred to him as the "brightest star in the literary world," while his death was described as "the end of an era in Marathi literary field" by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan.

He was survived by his three children and his body will be donated to Sir J.J. Hospital according to his will. The public may pay their last respect at his residence at Sahita Sahwas in Bandra East.
